It’s been a little while since I’ve done one of these posts, hasn’t it? Well, let’s get to it!
To start off, The Color of Darkness has nearly received 100,000 reads on Wattpad.
Yes.
I’m serious.
100,000!!!
I cannot possibly thank all of you for the continual support. I’m blown away by the level of attention the novel has seen over the past few months. So, here’s what’s in store for the book in the upcoming days:
In about a week or so, the publicity department at Page (my publisher) will be sending out a media statement to stores and online retailers announcing the release of the novel. I’ve sold precisely nine paperback copies so far, so I’m hoping to see that number rise soon! After the press release is sent out, I’m working with a web developer (my father-in-law, actually) to set up a giveaway of signed novels and other cool stuff. I think I will make the price of entering just one review (you don’t even have to write anything if you don’t want to) on Amazon or one of the other platforms on which the book is being sold. More details soon!
After the press release, nothing happens to the novel until the middle of November; on the 16th, TCOD will be removed from Wattpad (well, all but maybe three chapters or so). I repeat: After November 16th, TCOD will no longer be available online for free. I feel that six whole months of free exposure will be more than enough to get the word out there! If you haven’t read it yet, be sure to do it before then!
So, with all of that aside, what am I working on right now? My next novel, of course! For those of you who might not have been aware, I’m writing the first draft of a new novel right now, currently called From: Colorblind To: Happiness. It’s another coming of age novel but this time it addresses adolescents who deal with depression and a wide range of other mental illnesses. At the current rate, I should be able to finish the first draft by the end of the year (you never know, though). Unlike TCOD, however, I will be posting the first draft online only; all further revisions and the final novel will be released in book form.
As a final bit of final news, The Knight Owl (this blog, obviously) will be on a little break while I work on moving everything over to an official website. Sorry for the potential delay on any posting, but the new platform will look and function much, well, classier than this mess.
As always, until next time!
