So, I’ve had this half-finished TFAIW post siting in my directory which I promise I’ll finish it just as soon as I get everything updated.
So, I’ll start with the small stuff first:
To kick things off, I’ve been very busy coordinating book things and also managing my personal life. I have a day (night?) job that is putting me through a transfer at the moment and so keeping up with that is taking a lot of the time I typically use for writing. So, there’s my super lame explanation as to why it’s taken forever to update anything. By now, I’m sure plenty of you will have read or seen my new work From: Colorblind To: Happiness. If you haven’t, I really want to show you the AWESOME cover TheWorldWasQuiet, a fellow Wattpad user, did for me:
He’s an incredibly talented artist who also did the cover for Eleutheromania and I’ve been meaning to give him a shout-out on the blog for a while. Anyway, this new story is what I’m focusing on for the moment (explanation in the TFAIW post to follow). My other projects are merely on the backburners, I haven’t abandoned them!
Now on to the juicy news! The official going-on-the-book cover for The Color of Darkness was released to me about a week and a half ago; if you haven’t seen it yet, here it is:
Unfortunately, the only way I could share it was via a screen shot and it didn’t turn out quite as amazing as the real thing. That being said, I absolutely love it, and I hope you do too!
Now that the cover is done, the book is receiving one tiny edit I had to make (nothing you’ll notice, really) before it gets final approval and goes into print. Now this is where the timeline gets sketchy; once the book goes into print there’s a huge window of time where a lot of stuff is supposed to happen. The publisher is doing a press release to a lot of the major selling platforms, but there’s a ton of groundwork I have to do too, such as sending copies to book blogs and reviewers to try and get the word out there. It will probably be late summer before the thing gets any real attention, but you could certainly buy a copy the moment it comes out.
Now on to another bit of news, and a little bit of preaching. Over the past week or so I’ve been going back and forth with a Wattpad rep and my publishing coordinator to make sure everything is set for The Color of Darkness to be featured on the front page of Wattpad’s Teen Fiction section! What this means is that, starting May 16th, the novel will be available for free for exactly six months!
Here’s the preachy part:
I love writing, and I love bringing you guys stories that you can fall in love with. Producing The Color of Darkness has been a significant investment of both time and money, neither of which I have much in abundance. Now, I’m not asking you to donate a bunch of money to me so I can keep writing. I’m not asking to make a fortune off of my words. What I’m asking is that IF and only IF you really feel like the book is good enough, please buy a copy so you can have it for yourself! This has never been about being famous or making money, it’s always been about sharing what I love with people who love it too. If you feel like I do a good job at that, I would be forever grateful if you support me! Bottom line, the novel will be free for half a year because I want to share it with as many people as possible, but I would absolutely love it if you bought a copy anyway (c’mon, it’s $12.99)!
Well, there you have it, that’s pretty much everything I have for now.
Until next time!
